How can student athletes get ahead of injury?

The short answer

Young athletes repeat the same motions season after season while their bodies are still growing, and small imbalances can quietly build. Most people don’t realize they are misaligned, and even a slight degree can cause problems. AlignSmart® measures 20 points of alignment and gives a Symmetry Score, so athletes, parents and coaches can see where the body has adapted and build a plan around it.

For parents: what to know before the season.

Growth spurts, year-round sports, heavy backpacks and hours on screens all shape how a young body is balanced. Because most people can’t see their own alignment, a measurement gives your family something concrete instead of a guess.

AlignSmart® doesn’t diagnose or treat. It works alongside your child’s coach, athletic trainer, doctor and PT. Start with a free posture evaluation online, or call us and we will answer your questions first.

For coaches and teams: a measurement your athletes can use.

You already coach strength, skill and conditioning. What most programs don’t measure is the structure underneath. Objective alignment data gives you and your athletes a shared starting point, and a way to show progress that goes beyond how someone looks in a drill.

If you coach a school team, a club or a youth league, you are in a position to point athletes and families toward a free posture evaluation. Call our Folsom team to talk about what could work for your team.

Repeating the same motions without a break loads the same areas.

Backpacks & screens

Heavy bags and heads-down habits add to what sport already asks.

How does AlignSmart® help?

Symmetry for Health follows four steps, built around prevention rather than waiting for pain.

  1. MeasureThe patented AlignSmart® device captures 20 points across three planes of motion and produces your Symmetry Score, from 0 to 81.
  2. EducateYour practitioner shows you exactly where your body is compensating and why, in plain language.
  3. CorrectYou get a custom correction plan built for your structure, not a generic handout.
  4. EmpowerYou learn how to keep your alignment, so the changes last.

Pain areas people come to us about, and what better alignment can change.

People come to Symmetry for Health with jaw and neck pain, headaches, shoulder and upper back pain, elbow, wrist and hand pain, mid back and low back pain, sciatica, tailbone and pelvic pain, hip pain, knee pain, and ankle and foot pain. Others come for spinal curves, scoliosis patterns, disc-related back pain, or strains and injuries that keep coming back. Pain often shows up far from where it starts, so measuring the whole body matters. See everyone we help.

Move better

When your joints stack the way they were designed to, everyday movement, workouts and play take less effort.

Sleep better

Many people report sleeping more comfortably once their body stops working so hard to compensate.

Feel better

Less strain can mean more energy, better focus and an easier mood through the day.

Lower your injury risk

Measuring alignment shows where your body is overloaded, so you can address it before it becomes a strain or sprain.

AlignSmart® does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. If you have pain, talk with your doctor. Alignment data works best alongside the care you already have.

Your questions, answered

Why measure a student athlete’s alignment?

Young athletes repeat the same movements for years while their bodies are still growing. Measuring alignment shows where the body has adapted before it turns into a strain, so athletes, parents and coaches can work from real data instead of guesses.

Can alignment help prevent sports injuries?

Alignment can be one piece of the picture. When the body is out of balance it compensates, and those compensations can show up as strains or pain far from the cause. AlignSmart® measures where your body has shifted so you can build a plan around it. It does not guarantee any outcome, and it doesn’t diagnose or treat injuries.

Can I tell if my child is out of alignment just by looking?

Not reliably. Most people don’t realize they are misaligned, and even a slight degree can cause problems. That is why Symmetry for Health uses objective measurement rather than a visual guess.

What age can a student athlete be measured?

Please call (916) 467-7764 and we will talk it through with you. Parents are always welcome to ask questions before booking.

Does this replace the athletic trainer, doctor or physical therapist?

No. AlignSmart® works alongside your athlete’s coach, athletic trainer, doctor and PT. It adds objective data about structural alignment that none of them measure on their own. For pain or an injury, see a qualified healthcare provider.

I coach a team or run a club. How can we get involved?
