Patrick R. Mummy, Founder

Patrick R. Mummy is the founder and President of both Licensed To Heal, Inc (LTH) and Symmetry -the parent company to LTH, and the author of the nationally acclaimed book, Symmetry. Relieve Pain and Optimize Physical Motion.

Patrick's degree in Sports Medicine, with an emphasis in Applied Kinesiology and Biomechanics, combined with his exposure as a Division One athlete for the San Diego State Men's baseball program led to his discovery of the deficits of traditional and alternative therapies in curing physical pain. His unparalleled success in achieving excellence academically and athletically during his career culminated in his election as San Diego State's Scholar Athlete of the Year , as well as Most Valuable Player in 1993.

After graduating from San Diego State University in 1994, Patrick chose to work for the famous Egoscue Method in San Diego, CA, which provided him with the second key to understanding the causation of pain. In 1997 Patrick founded Symmetry, the Pain Relief Clinic, to help complete his journey in understanding postural therapy. Soon after he discovered the missing link of most therapies; the lack of an objective, measurable way of analyzing and sequencing therapeutic exercises to effectively and efficiently rid one of chronic pain and to optimize physical performance. This system is now formally known as S.T.A.R., Success Through Alignment Restoration, Therapy®. 

With over 15 years experiencing, analyzing and treating the physiological and biomechanical working of the human muscular-skeletal system as an amateur and semi-professional athlete, Egoscue Therapist, and Symmetry S.T.A.R. practitioner, Patrick innovated the Licensed To Heal Seminar and Software Program in 2003 to satisfy the needs of today's practitioners and clients seeking a permanent solution to curing physical pain for the long-term. Patrick's groundbreaking methodology, which includes objectively assessing and revealing muscular weaknesses and imbalances via the patent-pending on-line software program, utilizes unique and proven successful patent-pending tools to generate a specific set of therapeutic isometric and isotonic S.T.A.R. postures customized for each individual. Symmetry and LTH are receiving international recognition, most notably in the arena of assisting practitioners to dramatically boost their success through the implementation of the revolutionary LTH program that aids in curing their patients without the use of drugs, manipulation, surgery, expensive equipment or any invasive procedures.

His impressive repertoire also includes a guest interview on Dr. James Balch's Prescriptions for a Healthy Living on WS Radio, the largest internet radio show around the world, three radio interviews on Don Bodenbach's The Nature of Health , as well as being featured in multiple articles in leading newspapers and journals nationwide. He has been interviewed by nationally renowned Men's Fitness Magazine, The San Diego Union Tribune, The San Diego Business Journal, Men's Journal Magazine and Competitor Magazine , to name a few.

Patrick has also worked with many professional athletes. In the 2005 season, Patrick was flown to San Antonio, Texas to work with Az-Zahir Hakim , wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints professional football team and former Aztec, as well as multiple other players on the Saints including Ernie Conwell and Mitch Berger. Other notable professional athletes who have experienced S.T.A.R are Tony Gwynn, and Aaron Harang. Patrick is also affiliated with Harland Svare, the former New York Giant and coach under Vince Lombarde and coach for the Los Angeles Rams and San Diego Chargers.

Patrick has enjoyed business alliances with the Osteopathic Center for Children, Henry's Marketplace where he was officially appointed to their Health Advisory Board , and The Healthy Back Store , amongst others. He has also sponsored many community events, such as the American Cancer Society's Jim Laslavic Golf Tournament, the NFL Alumni Charity Golf Tournament for Bikes for Kids , the MS Walk, the Leukemia Society Marathon and the Easter Seals Annual Wine and Cheese Event. Patrick has extended his LTH program to Canada and Japan as well, and was invited to present at the SWIS conference held in Toronto in October, 2004. He is an approved provider for A.C.E. (American Council on Exercise) and NCTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork).
